Assault analogy

I found this and truly feel that if society realized exactly how they treat their victims, they would be ashamed of themselves. It’s akin to that governor who said rape victims rarely get pregnant from their assault.

Rep. Todd Akin (R-Mo.), the Republican nominee for Senate in Missouri, said he doesn’t support abortion even in cases of rape because victims of “legitimate rape” rarely get pregnant.

“First of all, from what I understand from doctors [pregnancy from rape is] really rare,” Akin, who’s running to unseat Sen. Claire McCaskill, told KTVI-TV in an interview posted Sunday. “If it’s a legitimate rape, the female body has ways to try to shut that whole thing down.”

He continued, “But let‘s assume that maybe that didn’t work or something — you know, I think there should be some punishment, but the punishment ought to be on the rapist and not attacking the child.”

A 1996 study published in the American Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology said approximately 32,000 pregnancies result from rape each year in the United States and that about 5 percent of rape victims are impregnated.

Good to know that he couldn’t give a rat’s behind  weather or not the mother would capable of caring for the product of her rape or would be mentally fit to deal with two coinciding life changing events of which, neither were her choice. I’m so tired the judgement and the people who think they know better than you, what you should do in your situation. I’m not a fan of abortion. But I would definitely consider it, if I were raped.

I don’t think the blame game where the victim is persecuted is any more viable than the story above. I understand there are some sick people out there who will abuse the system, but we should not bruise the already battered in an attempt to ignore an injustice. The accused are innocent until proven guilty, why wouldn’t the victim be treated as a victim unless proven otherwise?

  1. Some people’s levels of ignorance are just truly amazing. It’s sickening. I’m a survivor myself & the attitude I received from the authorities was unbelievably cruel. Unfortunately there are people out there with the same mentality about it as Todd Akin. It’s absolutely disgusting.

I was shocked when I read the governor’s words. I don’t believe abortion should ever be a means to en easy way out of responsibility but there are situations like rape where it’s important that every woman gets to make a choice and no man should have a say in that. No uterus, no opinion!

It’s similar when people accuse rape victims of asking for it by the way they dress which is bullshit. Nobody asks to be assaulted, no matter how the dress as if that is a real factor.

  3. It’s amazing how people can so easily give their own opinion and then expect it to govern as truth. I think he would probably think twice if it were his 14 year old granddaughter, especially if the rapist were any other color than lily white. I don’t think he’d be pushing for her to have and/or keep the baby but he’d be the first one to tell me I should have some bastards baby after being brutalized by him! Am I supposed go after child support too, or would that mean I must have consented?
And what the fuck is a legitimate rape? Is it like the tree falling in the woods? It’s only legitimate if 3 straight men witness it, and she wasn’t drunk or wore anything revealing or smelled too nice or smiled a certain way. What a Fucktard!

  4. This man makes my blood boil! Total ignorance. What’s crazier is he’s not alone in these absurd beliefs. And I get to vote against him with a huge smile on my face since I live in this state of Missouri. I’d say you hit a nerve with this post. I need to go calm down now.

  5. His comments are a total disgrace to humanity.
I’d really like to know if he believes his own bullshit.
    Disgusting.
