Today is International Transgender Day of Remembrance

I have had little exposure to the transgender community within my life, but I do have a great sympathy for them. The threat of violence is a constant reminder of the profound lack of acceptance. You do not have to understand it to give love and promote a peaceful existence for those who live a trans lifestyle. No person should live in fear just for being who they are, no matter how difficult it may be for those around them to accept it. Fear is such a terrible thing that robs us of the potential for greatness. Who knows what these wonderful people could have brought to the world or did already bring into the world. Fear destroyed these lives, let love keep their memories alive.
Find out how you can honor someone who was taken too soon. Volunteer for the Trevor Project, or a local support group for teens. Get out there and open minds and show them why fear is not the answer. Love is.

This pictogram was on the Queerlandia page, but I wanted to be sure you’d be able to read it on mine too.
